January 10th PTA Meeting Recap

❤️ Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our meeting last night and help make our valentine surprises! We had a great time and a lot of great open discussions.

For those that were not able to here is my wrap up of what was discussed:

🎉 The first half of the year was great! All of our fundraisers were largely successful which helped us to add to our scholarship program and donations to the Cynthia Rossi Foundation that helps our Warriors in all 4 buildings. We had a new event, the PTA Trunk or Treat that was fantastic for the whole community. We brought in a new program with Tim Hartman the storyteller. The kids had so much fun with him! And we were able to have our Halloween Parties and get our volunteers back in to the buildings!!!

💙 Every January the Executive Board starts planning the following school year. So as we continue to work on things for this school year we are also thinking about the 22-23 school year. This starts with elections. Executive Board officers are elected to 3 yr terms. Membership and Fundraising are appointed board positions. Looking ahead to the 22-23 term, most of our board will be continuing with a possibility of a secretary 2 opening. The secretary 2 position includes helping with communications, email blasts and filling in when the secretary 1 isn’t present. This is a good position for someone looking to dip their toes in the PTA board to see exactly what we do and how we work. And we really try to build positions for what someone is interested in doing. If you are interested or have questions please contact me at [email protected].

While we don’t have a lot of openings for next year the 23-24 school year will see a complete overhaul of the board with only our Treasurer having part of her term left. Fundraising and membership chairs will also be moving on since their kiddos will be going into middle school. So if there is any position on the board that interests you and you would like to help out and shadow anyone next year just let us know. It is definitely a plus to have time to learn what a position entails and not just jumping into it blind.

💰 We also start planning our budget for next year! If you are a committee chair and want an increase in your budget you need to let Rebecca Haugh myself or Laura Crawley know by the next meeting on February 15th. Also if you just have an idea for something you would like to see us do or something you feel the kids need that we could help with, don’t hesitate to reach out and let us know. We are always looking for new ideas. For example, our fundraising chair Jess, reminded us we had discussed doing toolboxes for each student to start school before schools closed on 2020. So we will be revisiting that to see what we can do.
Please also see attached financial report.

💙 January School Board meetings are scheduled for January 12th and 20th at 7pm at the high school. We encourage everyone to attend to hear what is going on in the district.

💙 Thank you to everyone who helped decorate the schools for Christmas and take everything down. Rachel Schwer and her team did great and we got so many compliments. We would love to get more people involved next year and if anyone has any interest in decorating the schools seasonally please let us know!

💰 Fundraising has been running great this year. Thank you Jessica Applegarth and Jill Ann for everything u do to raise the money needed to help in the schools and give back to the community. Our next fundraiser will be the popular Anderson’s candy sale which will kick off February 21st. The kids usually get spirit wear incentives with this sale. Jess and Jill are looking for new ideas for incentive ideas! If you have any thoughts reach out to Jess at [email protected]

🎅🏻 The North Pole was a great success! Thank you Kay and Roddy Taddeo for putting this together for our CV families!

👜 The CV PTA Designer Purse Bash is coming up on January 23rd. Doors open at 11:30 at Center Stage, lunch is served at 12:30 and the cash bar will be open! We have a few tickets left if anyone still needs one. Any questions reach out to me or Jenn Jennifer Martin at [email protected]

🎅🏻 Santa’s Workshop was great for the kids to shop for their friends and family. Thank you Ashley Boulding, Jill and Laura Mulligan for helping this happen. Ashley will be chairing this moving forward to keep it going for our students. She has lots of great ideas and we can’t wait to see what she does with it.

🍩 We are looking forward to hosting our Donuts with Daddy and Muffins with Mommy events this year but we need volunteers to make these both happen. We need a chairperson for Donuts. This involves ordering the donuts and organizing the volunteers and kids activities. Please let us know if you are interested ASAP. We would love to have this event in February or March.
PTA Dad Lance Crawley is the Chairperson for Muffins with Mommy. He would like to get a group of fellow PTA guys together to organize this event so the ladies can enjoy the time with the kids! If you can help please let me know or contact Lance directly at [email protected]

Our next meeting will be TUESDAY, February 15th at Center Grange. We had to switch the date since schools will be closed the 14th. Hope to see more of you there!
